Van Van is one of New Orlean's oldest and most famous hoodoo oils. While most conjure oils are very specific in use Van Van is a great multipurpose oil to have on hand. It is best known for drawing in success and changing one's luck from bad to good. Van Van is also known for opening new doors of opportunity and clearing obstacles. It can be used to give charms and talismans more power, in a floor wash or spiritual bath, for mojo bags or gris gris, and my personal favorite, anointing candles.
The traditional ingredients for Van Van are lemongrass, citronella, vetiver, palmarosa, and gingergrass although this formula has a few added extra ingredients passed down by family that also allow it to be used as a "fast luck" condition oil. Only the highest quality herbs and oils are used but a spot test is recommended if you are wearing Van Van directly on your skin. Sold in 1/2 oz and 1 oz quantities and handmade in small batches.Â
